It’s free to enter and exhibits many historical pieces, such as the largest Joseph Wright of Derby collection in the world, the story of Bonnie Prince Charlie who visited the city on his famous march to London, and a large natural history section. For those who want a bit of art and culture there is the Quad, home of Derby’s growing arts scene. There is also the beautiful Arboretum Park in Normanton – the oldest park in the UK. Central Park in New York was modeled on this park.
Check out Derby Arboretum Friends for info on events:
Spiral Arts also do a lot of events there:

There is the wonderful Smallprint Company letterpress studio. Tucked away on Friary St, they offer workshops where you can lose yourself amidst their vast collection of type and vintage printing presses. Along with scheduled courses they have regular open days inviting anyone to come and explore the gallery and workshop.

And there’s the wonderful Deda and artcore, both having such varied and interesting programmes and classes. The riverside walk behind the city hall and bus station is impressive
