No matter how well you think you know Derby, there’s always somewhere new to discover! Have you found these hidden gems yet?
1. The Bubble Inn, Stenson
Sitting in the sunshine with a pint of local brew in front of you and canal boats chugging slowly past, you might be forgiven for thinking that the city is a long way away. But the Bubble Inn is tucked away just beyond Derby’s southern limit, in the tiny hamlet of Stenson. The rustic stone and brick building houses a cosy bar and restaurant. Upstairs, among the sturdy wooden roof beams, is a quieter space to enjoy a friendly drink and chat, while the bar area downstairs features a pool table and a log fire. In summer you can eat outside, then wander down to the Trent & Mersey to watch boats navigating Stenson Lock.
