Derby’s Tenpin Bowling centre is one of the city’s long established out-of-town leisure offerings, and it has recently been re-launched following a £270,000 refurbishment.
To celebrate Tenpin’s reopening I, along with other local bloggers and the odd Derby celebrity or two, was invited to see the improvements and changes that the venue now boasts.
Upon entering the venue both myself and my bowling guest were welcomed by the event organisers, Derby-based Penguin PR. After receiving our welcome drink and sampling some the buffet food it was time to score some strikes.
The bowling venue has been refurbished throughout with new flat-screen TV’s above the bowling lanes to show scores as well as music videos. The centre has also been redecorated and re-carpeted, and there are new bowling balls too!
Players are no longer required to wear special bowling shoes – you can now wear your own footwear (providing it’s suitable of course).
Other improvements to the venue include new pool tables, table tennis tables and arcade games. Overall the refurbishment does make for a much fresher venue throughout, so definitely money well spent.
As well as bowling the other main attraction at Tenpin in Derby is of course Laser Quest – now known as Sector 7, and this too has been refurbished. A game of this was definitely in order, and I actually came top overall with a score of 44400 points!
A huge thank you to the staff at Tenpin for their excellent running of the event, and also to Penguin PR for inviting me to and organising the evening.
