Derby LIVE and Little Wolf Entertainment’s 2023 smash hit, Mother Goose, has been shortlisted for three awards at the Oscars of pantomime awards, The UK Pantomime Association Pantomime Awards 2024.

The glittering spectacle that opened to rave reviews, starred Derby’s own Morgan Brind as the slightly quackers but ever so lovable, Mother Goose. Those starring alongside Brind included; Todd Boyce as baddie, Demon Vanity, Kristian Cunningham as Benedict Goose, Nicola Martinus-Smith as Rosemary, Roddy Peters as Baron Wasteland and Ben Tanner as Shelley Bassey.

The Pantomime Awards see hundreds of productions judged each year with all of them hoping to win awards in twenty-two different categories.

Mother Goose has received nominations for:

  • Best Costume Design – all the shows costumes were designed by Morgan Brind and bought to life by a talented wardrobe team.
  • Best Supporting Artist – Ben Tanner for his much-loved and animated performance as Shelley Bassey, the magical golden egg laying goose.
  • Best Pantomime for a venue with over 900 seats.

Morgan Brind and Alan Bowles from Derby based Little Wolf Entertainment said:

“It really is such an honour to have been nominated for these awards, which recognises the hard work of the whole team. It’s very special that Mother Goose has been recognised as one of the five best large-scale pantomimes in the UK last year. And we’re already hard at work to ensure Cinderella is a magical experience for all the families who have tickets for this year.”

Councillor Nadine Peatfield, Cabinet Member for City Centre, Regeneration, Culture & Tourism commented:

“I’m so proud of our wonderful Derby LIVE team and production partners, Little Wolf Entertainment. To be nominated for three awards is such an achievement and is a real testament to the talents of everyone involved – it’s given me goosebumps! Every year, the Pantomime is the pinnacle of our festive offer and it’s fantastic to see this recognised on the national stage.

Simon Sladen, Chair of the UK Pantomime Association, added:

“We can’t wait to celebrate pantomime excellence at The Pantomime Awards in June at G Live. The pantomime industry has such a wealth of talent, which we’re proud to recognize and champion. Congratulations to all the nominees and thank you to everyone who keeps audiences entertained up and down the country each festive season.”
