On Saturday, June 13, shoppers can visit St Peter’s Church to browse stalls selling eco-friendly products and enjoy refreshments in the vegan-friendly café. There are still spaces available for small businesses with an environmental focus to join the indoor market, with interested traders invited to email gemma@derbybids.co.uk.
Families will also be able to take part in creative art and craft workshops run by artist Scraggy Moo. The sessions will celebrate sustainability and encourage children to think about ways they can make a positive difference in their community.
Great Big Green Week runs from June 6 to 14 and is the UK’s biggest celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature. Across the country, communities, schools, businesses, churches, mosques and other groups will come together to support action for the planet.
Gemma Pindard, Deputy Manager for St Peters Quarter BID, said the team is looking forward to bringing a full programme of activities to Derby.
She said: “We are looking forward to hosting a series of events during the week. One of our plans is to refurbish and restore some of the planters around the city and plant them with shrubs, flowers and bulbs.”
