Free fitness events in Derby mark National Fitness Day & World Mental Health Day

Two free community fitness events will take place in Derby this September and October, organised by the St Peters Quarter Business Improvement District (BID) in partnership with Pure Gym.

Free fitness events in Derby mark National Fitness Day & World Mental Health Day

The activities aim to highlight the link between physical and mental health.

Event 1: National Fitness Day

When: Wednesday, September 24, 10.30am–4pm
Where: The Spot, Derby

Outdoor activities including rowing, skiing and basketball will run throughout the day, alongside free gym classes. Shoppers and visitors can also access free health checks (10.30am–4pm) and pick up a goodie bag filled with healthy snacks.

Event 2: World Mental Health Day

When: Friday, October 10, 10.30am–4pm
Where: St Peters Cross, near St Peter’s Church on St Peter’s Street, Derby

Pure Gym staff and personal trainers will host more fitness challenges and be on hand with expert advice. Gym members, local businesses and the public are all welcome to join in—basketball is among the activities on offer.

“It is always exciting to bring the community together and celebrate something like National Fitness Day and World Mental Health Day,” said Gemma Pindard, Deputy BID Manager for St Peters Quarter and Cathedral Quarter BIDs. “These events are a great way for people to try a few fitness challenges, enjoy a bit of friendly competition, and we have some fantastic goodie bags to give away.”
