Brooks Deli and Wine Bar will launch on Station Road, taking over the ground floor of the former Finewood Studio furniture shop. The new venue comes from Lyndsey Morgan and his family, who many will remember from their long-standing delicatessen at Derby’s former Eagle Market.
This will be the second Brooks Deli and Wine Bar following the success of their first site in Ockbrook, which opened two years ago. The Mickleover branch promises to be a bigger and even more ambitious offering.
Lyndsey said:
“The building in Mickleover is a great location and we’re really excited to be opening soon. The feedback we’ve had so far has been amazing and we can’t wait to welcome people through the doors.”
By day, visitors can expect a wide range of locally sourced cheeses, cured meats, and deli favourites. In the evenings, the venue will transform into a relaxed wine bar, serving wines, beers, and spirits alongside sharing boards of speciality cheeses and meats.
The site has been refurbished by Derby-based MHL Commercial, with the letting handled by commercial property consultancy OMEETO. The wider development also includes serviced offices, a Pilates reformer studio, and an estate agency—aiming to create a vibrant community hub in the heart of Mickleover.
Chris Wright, director at OMEETO, said:
“Lyndsey is a well-known figure in Derby’s food scene, and we’re confident this new deli and wine bar will be a fantastic addition to the area. The Ockbrook site has been incredibly popular, and we expect Mickleover to be no different.”
The Morgan family’s story stretches back to 1963, when Lyndsey’s father, George, opened the original Morgan’s Sandwich Bar and Deli in Derby’s Market Hall. The business later moved to the Eagle Market in 1988, eventually being passed down to Lyndsey’s sons, George and Thomas—the third generation now involved in the family trade.
“Expanding to a second location has always been the plan,” added Lyndsey.
“It’s been a very busy few weeks, but we’re nearly there. We’re looking forward to bringing something special to Mickleover.”
