Sponsored by the Cathedral Quarter Business Improvement District (BID), Santa’s magical grotto officially opens on Saturday, November 29, bringing festive cheer to the heart of the city.
Every child visiting Santa will receive a special gift, and families are welcome to take their own photos with Santa and his elves inside the stunning Grade II-listed Market Hall — a perfect backdrop for some festive memories.
After your visit, why not explore the Market Hall’s independent stalls and start ticking off your Christmas shopping list? The Market Hall reopened in May after an impressive £35.1 million restoration, transforming it into one of Derby’s most exciting destinations.
Brad Worley, Manager of the Cathedral Quarter BID, said:
“We’re so happy to welcome Father Christmas to the Derby Market Hall this year. After its reopening in May, we knew it would be the perfect setting for our grotto. You’re in for a real treat this Christmas — we can’t wait for families to come and visit.”
Cllr Nadine Peatfield, Leader of Derby City Council and Cabinet Member for City Centre, Regeneration, Strategy and Policy, added:
“The stunning Victorian architecture of Derby Market Hall offers the perfect backdrop for Santa’s Grotto. Visitors can enjoy meeting Santa, shop with our local independent retailers, indulge in delicious food, and soak up the Market Hall’s magical festive atmosphere.”
🎟 Tickets cost £4.50 (including booking fee), with prices kept low so families can enjoy some festive fun without breaking the bank.
