The Angry Bee, Heanor review

2016 saw the Derbyshire market town of Heanor join the micropub scene with the opening of two new small watering holes. First to open in the Summer was the Redemption Ale House on Ray Street (which we hope to pay another visit to in the future) followed a few months later by The Angry Bee micropub on Godfrey Street (right near the town’s market place).

Upon entering The Angry Bee you are greeted with a rather pleasing interior décor featuring ‘brick’ wallpaper, ornaments, an old street sign, and modern murals which adds real character to the venue.

Further inside the pub are two more distinct areas. Firstly there is a hallway complete with stools, a side-ledge table and a rather interesting local history mural. Secondly, there is the living room complete with leather chairs and sofas, antique clock and lamp, side tables, and bookcase wallpaper. Plenty of areas available for drinkers to relax, chat, and even learn!

The drink choice available at the Angry Bee doesn’t disappoint. For ale drinkers there is a choice of up to 5 ales on sale, whilst those fancying something different there is also lager, cider, wine, brandy, whisky, port and soft drinks.

There is an interesting story behind the naming of the Angry Bee, but I’ll leave it for you to discover yourselves by paying a visit to the micropub.
