For my latest micropub review I decided to visit Long Eaton’s offering, York Chambers. The venue is a beautiful Grade II listed building. Previously a cafe which served the residents of Long Eaton for over 70 years it has now been given a new lease of life.
York Chambers sells a range of drinks including real ales, ciders, wines and soft drinks. There are six ales on sale, and are all served straight from the barrel. If you are a proud CAMRA member you can get drink discounts on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. For cider fans there is a good range of traditional ciders available, and if don’t fancy alcohol then soft drinks are also available.
If you prefer wine then there are plenty of white, red, pink and fizzy wines. ‘Ladies night’ is every Thursday where you can get free Prosecco.
Food-wise you can find the usual staples of crisps and nuts. The pub also do a ‘drink and roll’ deal, which on my visit was £3.75 for a roll and soft drink, or £5 for a pint and roll – a good offering for those wanting a bite to eat with their drink.
The building is extremely well decorated inside and out, and has a really good pub-feel.
This is another fine Derbyshire micropub, and definitely one for fans to try out. I was once told that there wasn’t much enthusiasm for real ale in Long Eaton but having visited York Chambers I would say that certainly isn’t the case!
