Many football fans often like to visit a pub, bar or restaurant to get some food and drink before or after a match, and for Derby County fans there are several venues around Pride Park that cater for such needs.
One of these venues is Derby County’s newest bar & restaurant situated in Pride Park Stadium itself – The Yard, located in the stadium’s South East corner and was formerly home to a gym.
The Yard has a somewhat contemporary feel inside – not too brash or fancy. There are a couple a big TV screens inside, appropriately showing Sky Sports, which was handy for us to see the goals from the Derby game which we won to secure our play-off place.
We booked a table for six on this occasion but at the last minute we needed to increase this by 1, The Yard accommodated for us without hesitation.
For my dish I had the Spicy Beef pizza with peppers and onions. It was tasty with the beef being spicy enough and not too overpowering
However, there were a couple of service issues, mainly having to call the staff for the bill, but it was busy having been after the match, so we can forgive this. When required to attend us the staff were helpful and friendly. I can’t fault them at all given how busy it was.
So, I like The Yard. It’s a great addition to Pride Park Stadium’s food and drink offering, the food that I had was good, and the venue itself is pleasant.
I’ll be happy to have another meal at The Yard soon, although next time maybe not on a match day!
