The Little Shed is situated on the edge of Allestree park, this boutique café is perfect for a pit stop mid-walk.
Last weekend I treated my niece to lunch, which consisted of a hot chocolate and a ‘slab’ of Smartie brownie, which for a 9-year old is the perfect – yet slightly naughty – meal.
I had to join her so I decided on the raspberry and white chocolate cake, with an Oreo milkshake. I must say as a fellow baker I am very critical of other people’s cake, but it was delicious, the icing was really tasty and the sponge was a lovely texture.
My milkshake was served in a quirky milk bottle and was smooth and creamy and my niece had a huge hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows.
There were so many tempting cakes to choose from, including: Guinness brownies, Gingerbread cake, Caramac cake, chocolate drizzle and honeycomb layer cake and a selection of cupcakes, to mention just a few.
The freshly baked cakes are beautifully presented and they even had some gluten free options.
The tables had fresh flowers and the décor is stunning. It was hard to keep my niece on her seat as there were so many pretty gifts around us.
We were surrounded by people enjoying afternoon tea, which included sandwiches, scones with cream and jam and a selection of cakes and tea. The afternoon tea was presented very elegantly and they were more than happy to box up any leftovers for you to enjoy at home.
The shed was filled with diners but also people popping in to grab a cake or coffee, which gave it a buzz.
I was informed that they will soon be offering a savory menu, which I very much look forward to enjoying but for the time being there was plenty to enjoy permitting you have a sweet tooth.
If you wanted to enjoy an afternoon coffee reading the paper or afternoon tea with your friends and family the Little Shed is the perfect spot.
