The Bookcafé, Derby is a lovely café set in a beautiful grade 2 listed building where the walls are adorned with books.
I went along to the café during a busy shopping spree to relax and enjoy some food, It was a pleasant relief to go from the hectic intu to a relaxing, friendly atmosphere at the Bookcafé.
It was incredibly hard to decide what to eat as the menu offered everything from a prawn and avocado wrap to Moroccan lamb served in a traditional clay pot.
We settled for a smoked salmon, cucumber and cream cheese sandwich and a prawn and avocado salad. The food arrived beautifully prepared, and looked very inviting and there was plenty of it. As tempting as it was to have a cocktail I settled for a Chai Latte, which was sweet and creamy. The Bookcafe makes every effort to locally source its food and was certainly very fresh when served.
The café is self-service but the staff were really friendly and they have a beautiful array of condiments and some very tempting homemade desserts.
Overall the food was beautiful, and certainly a great place to relax mid-shopping spree.
