Best parks in Derby to socially distance in and enjoy the sunshine.
As the days start to get longer and the warmer, it's certainly time to get out and enjoy one of Derby's beautiful parks.

A stunning 18th-century country house in between the villages of Stanley and Ockbrook, with gorgeous surroundings, Locko Park is Instagram-worthy. Although the house and estate is privately owned, there’s a bridleway through the estate which is open to the public for leisurely walks, with fantastic views of the house and parkland.
Chaddesden Park
This one’s perfect for the kids. Although the masses of bluebells and beautiful cherry trees are out of blossom, Chaddesden Park is still a beautiful place to visit with the family in summer. There are loads of sports facilities available, including a BMX track, football and cricket pitches and a games area.
For those looking for something less adrenaline-fuelled, there’s a nature zone and natural pond. The modest size of this park makes it the perfect location for a gentle stroll or bike ride, and its popular café is a great place to stop off for a tea or coffee.
Another peaceful escape from the city centre, Markeaton Park has quite literally something for everyone. There’s loads for the kids (and big kids) to get involved with. Although the paddling pool and some of the play facilities are still off-limits, Markeaton Park offers Mini Golf, Pitch and Putt, Disc Golf and Footgolf.
Markeaton Craft Village is a lovely place to take a wander and peruse the shops, and the Orangery Cafe is back open for takeaway food and drink. The park covers 207 acres and consists of open grass land, small wooded areas, secluded areas, a lake and brooks too, so it’s the perfect place to take a relaxing walk or bring a picnic.
