QUAD is delighted to present Happy Trails: Welcome to Lalaland, a colourful and uplifting exhibition by Derby-based illustrator and community artist Carla Dee. Known for her playful digital style and joyful characters, Carla invites visitors into the imaginative world of Love Lalaland — where creativity knows no bounds and positivity is always in full colour.
Rooted in spontaneous doodles and brought to life digitally on the iPad, Carla’s work is inspired by pop culture, everyday life, and the people and places around her. This interactive exhibition celebrates individuality, playfulness and the power of creativity to connect and inspire.
Visitors of all ages can enjoy bold, cartoon-style artworks filled with quirky charm, bright colours and hidden details — encouraging smiles, daydreaming and a sense of wonder.
Carla Dee is a digital illustrator, community artist and proud creator of Love Lalaland. Her work has featured in regional projects, including the Derby Ram Trail, and she regularly collaborates with community groups, charities and arts organisations. From murals to wheelbarrows, Carla’s mission is simple: to spread joy and encourage creative expression through art.
