Over 15, 16, 17 November, Donington Hall plays host to a marvellous Christmas Fair. Built in 1790, the hall was once home to Francis Rawdon-Hastings, the 2nd Earl of Moira and more recently, British Midland Airways.
Now a private house, it is not usually open to the public.
Set in 26 acres of parkland, with a deer park dating back to medieval times, this unique property lends itself to sophistication and beauty and will be sure to tempt even the most bah-humbug of us all. With artisan gifts, designers and makers, you will be sure to find something special for your loved ones this Christmas. There’ll be Belgian waffles and pancakes, a Christmas carvery and baked potatoes from a traditional Victorian potato oven.
Specialist cheese, pate, charcuterie and plenty of sweet treats to try and buy. Festive musical performances will intermingle with the aroma of mulled wine and mince pies and it’s all for a good cause. Tickets (£5) are available online at www.doningtonchristmasfair.com but can also be bought on the door. Parking is free and all funds go to Treetops Hospice Care. Just follow signs to the Priest House, Castle Donington DE74 2SG.
The Fair runs on Friday 15 November (Sneak Peek evening) 6-9pm, Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 November from 10am-4pm.
