From the End of the World

From the End of the World

Hana, a high school girl who lost her parents in a childhood accident, has no hope and is lonely.

Struggling with her life, even to make ends meet, she also feels disconnected at school due to bullying. However, her life takes an unexpected turn when a man claiming to be from a government special agency approaches her, insisting that she holds the key to saving the world from its impending doom.

Hana is initially baffled by the request to share her dreams, as she has no recollection of any relevant experiences. But one night, she experiences a bizarre dream, a dream of a young girl in the Sengoku era (late 15th century to 16th century), setting her on a course she could never have imagined.

A sci-fi film directed by Kazuaki Kiriya, whose credits include the post-apocalyptic epic Casshern and the English-language action film Last Knights, brings this fascinating and apocalyptic time-travelling experience to the big screen. With superb acting, accomplished shots, as well as the effective use of CGI, this film with a magnificent view of the world makes lonely Hana’s efforts and desperate wish to save the world believable and make this film totally absorbing. Highly entertaining.
