Sky Valley Mistress return with their most ambitious work to date with the release of their second album, Luna Mausoleum, out now via New Heavy Sounds and they bring their explosive duel drumming live show to The Vic Inn Derby on Tuesday 31st March 2026.
Formed in Blackburn, Lancashire, the band signed to New Heavy Sounds ahead of their debut album Faithless Rituals, recorded with Dave Catching at Rancho de la Luna (Queens of the Stone Age, Arctic Monkeys, Iggy Pop). Just days later, lockdown halted touring plans, forcing the band to rethink everything. What followed was a fearless reinvention.
Refusing to dilute their identity, vocalist Kayley “Hell Kitten” Davies and drummer Max “Leather Messiah” Newsome rebuilt Sky Valley Mistress as a Duel-Drumming Duo – a visceral, no-compromise live experience. Kayley commands half a drum kit while Max battles fuzz-laden guitar with a kick drum underfoot. No samples. No backing tracks. No click tracks. Just raw, physical rock ’n’ roll.
Luna Mausoleum is intended as the soundtrack to their Hearsecraft ride to the moon – a genre-spanning journey fuelled by 70s hard rock, desert grooves and towering riffs. The album twists the weight of Black Sabbath, the swagger of Queens of the Stone Age, the atmosphere of Portishead and the gospel-scale ambition of Spiritualised into something modern, cinematic and unmistakably their own. Across fuzz guitars, organs, real orchestras and even a children’s choir, the band move effortlessly between crushing heaviness and delicate, soaring moments.
The band describe the intent behind Luna Mausoleum as being “greater and beyond all reason”, and the ambition extends beyond the music. The first vinyl pressing is released on ‘Moon Dust’ vinyl, housed in a printed foil gatefold sleeve and including a build-your-own Luna Mausoleum card model.
Fresh from supporting The Hives, Sky Valley Mistress bring this new era to the stage with a live show that is loud, theatrical and utterly singular.
Expect volume, vision and rock ’n’ roll without permission.
Support comes from Nat Dempsey – blending rural acoustic sensibilities with urban indie rock grit, Nat Dempsey expresses both sides of his lived experience through powerhouse songwriting and performance; a duality of sounds that only a Lake District native living in Manchester can convey.
Nat’s heartfelt, introspective and occasionally fiery catalogue has earned praise from BBC Introducing in Cumbria & Lancashire, Future Hits Radio, Tempo Magazine and more. With honed live experience ranging from the West Cumbria pub circuit as a teenager to Kendal Calling’s Roots Stage in 2024, he knows how to rile up a crowd into both dancing and ruminating by the end of his set.
