The Found Footage Phenomenon – Talk With Director Sarah Appleton

Sarah Appleton – director of The Found Footage Phenomenon(2022) – discusses the themes, tropes and realities of the found footage style from its origins in cinema verité to its continual rebirth through the lens of new technologies.

The talk will look at where, why, when and how this style became popular within the horror genre, looking at a number of specific films presented with clips, and will attempt to rationalise what makes found footage horror such an interesting sub-genre still active today.
