One of the Midlands’ most popular shopping and leisure destinations, Derbion, will be welcoming a new local brand to the centre as a result of its independent retail initiative, Hatch.

Hatch is designed to offer small business owners the opportunity to take their brand to the next level and open a retail space within Derbion for six weeks, completely rent free.
Following the competitive process, Derby-based hair replacement specialist, The Hair Repair Club, has won the opportunity to offer life-changing hair replacement services in its first physical store at Derbion this year.

Aiming to reduce the stigma around hair systems for men of all ages, The Hair Repair Club offers non-surgical hair replacement systems, which gives customers a restored sense of confidence.

The Hair Repair Club has helped those suffering from hair loss and male pattern baldness across the UK for nearly five years, and has a network of Salons and Training Academies across the country that produces high quality and cost effective non-surgical hair systems.
This is the third year that Derbion has run the competition, which was initially introduced in 2019.

The campaign offers entrepreneurs and budding business owners the opportunity to set up their own retail space within Derbion with rent, service charges and business rates covered for the first six weeks. The competition has enjoyed success since launch, with Design 44 and Project D both originating from the scheme.

Tom Walker, founder and director at The Hair Repair Club, commented:

“When I reached my early twenties, I noticed that my hair was thinning and it was affecting my confidence in my day-to-day life. After exploring and trying every remedy on the market, followed by thousands of trials and errors, I fitted my first hair system back in 2015. My hair system gave me a restored sense of confidence that made me motived to help other men out there suffering from hair loss and male pattern baldness, which was how The Hair Repair Club was born.

“I’m delighted and extremely excited to be opening The Hair Repair Club’s first physical standalone store at Derbion! The satisfaction from seeing someone with low self-esteem and confidence becoming a person who feels so much better about themselves is what I work so hard for. I’m really looking forward to opening the doors to our first shop at the centre next month so we can continue to help and support so many more men of all ages.”

Adam Tamsett, centre director at Derbion, said:

“We know that our customers are on the lookout for up-and-coming brands and a range of services to enjoy alongside our breadth of big-name retailers, and Hatch is a great way for us to give local, independent businesses the support they need to take the next step up.

“The Hair Repair Club impressed the judges with its strong business vision and unique offering. We’d like to wish them huge congratulations and we’re confident that the brand will be a big hit with our visitors.

“We were really impressed with the quality and diversity of applications this year to our Hatch competition, and alongside The Hair Repair Club, we’re in conversation with a selection of other participants to discuss the possibilities of support from Derbion.”

The Hair Repair Club will open its space, which will be located on Level 1, at Derbion this autumn for six weeks.
