This policy explains payments, recurring business subscriptions, one-off promotion and publishing charges on Love Derby, operated by [Legal entity not configured]. It should be read alongside our Terms of Service and Business Terms, as applicable. The specific plan description and checkout confirmation identify what you buy and override any illustrative examples here.
1. What you can buy
Depending on the publication, we may offer individual Place Boost subscriptions, business publishing subscriptions for news or events, combined publishing plans or one-off publishing and promotional products. A free public place listing or verified business claim does not by itself mean a paid subscription is active. Prices, included allowances, term, billing interval and tax treatment will be displayed before payment.
2. Recurring billing
When a plan is described as a subscription, it renews automatically at the term and price disclosed before payment unless you cancel it before the next renewal. You authorise the recurring charge at the stated interval. Checkout identifies the amount, currency, frequency, term and applicable introductory offers. Stripe processes payments and securely stores full payment-card details; we use customer, subscription and transaction references to administer the service and do not store your full card details in our application.
3. Cancellation and effect on service
You can cancel your subscription at any time through the available billing management tools or by contacting [Contact email not configured]. Where applicable law requires another cancellation method, we will provide it. Cancelling stops the subscription from renewing after the current paid term; it does not ordinarily terminate access or end paid benefits immediately. Your paid features will normally remain active until the term end date shown in billing, unless there is a lawful reason to restrict access or the law provides otherwise. Deleting an account or changing the business or place you manage does not automatically cancel the Stripe subscription: check your billing status and cancellation confirmation.
If a business has more than one plan or Place Boost, check and cancel each relevant subscription. One-off purchases do not have recurring renewal.
4. Upgrades, downgrades and changes
A plan change may take effect immediately or at renewal as shown in the checkout or billing portal, with any proration, credit or additional charge explained before confirmation. We will give legally required notice of material pricing or service changes and a way to avoid an unwanted renewal. We may discontinue a plan with suitable notice and any required remedy.
5. Refunds and cancellation rights
Our standard policy is not to offer discretionary refunds for subscription charges or unused time. In particular, if your subscription automatically renews because you forgot to cancel before the renewal date, we do not normally refund that renewal charge or offer a pro-rata refund, and you can use the paid features until the end of the renewed term. This applies only where the charge and renewal were properly disclosed and lawfully taken.
This does not limit legal rights. We will provide refunds or other remedies where required by applicable law, including relevant statutory cancellation or cooling-off rights, charges made in error, or a failure to supply a promised paid service. If you believe any of these apply, contact [Contact email not configured] with the payment reference. We will investigate and explain the outcome.
Most paid business publishing or promotion plans are intended for business customers, but a purchaser's legal status and the nature of the transaction determine whether consumer-law protections apply. Where a consumer has a statutory cooling-off or cancellation right, we will honour it and provide the required pre-contract information and any service-start or digital-content consent process. Different legal rules may apply to business-to-business purchases.
Where a law allows a charge for services requested and supplied during a cancellation period, any such charge will be handled only within the applicable rules. A cancellation request is not automatically the same as a claim for a refund of time already used.
6. One-off purchases and advertising placements
A one-off article, event or promotional purchase covers the specific submission entitlement, review, publication, duration or placement described before checkout. Paying does not guarantee we will approve or publish submitted content. We may decline offensive, unlawful, misleading or otherwise unsuitable content after editorial review. If we reject a submission, whether a replacement, credit or refund is due depends on the actual paid product, what has been supplied, what was clearly disclosed before purchase and applicable legal rights. An editorial rejection does not override a right to a refund for a promised service that we have not supplied.
7. Failed payments, chargebacks and invoicing
If a payment fails, we may ask you to update your payment method, retry payment where authorised or suspend unpaid premium benefits after appropriate notice. Disputing a charge with your bank does not automatically cancel a plan. Contact us if you think a payment is incorrect so we can investigate alongside any dispute rights you have. You can obtain receipts or invoices through the channels shown in the billing tools or by requesting them from us.
8. Renewals, reminders and records
We will provide purchase and renewal information, cancellation instructions, applicable reminders and contract confirmations as required by the law in force at the relevant time. Keep a copy of your confirmation and note the renewal date displayed in the portal.
9. Help and complaints
For billing queries or refund requests, contact [Contact email not configured], stating the website, business, plan or item, payment date and the problem. We will investigate reasonably and explain next steps. Nothing in this policy takes away statutory rights or access to legal remedies.
Effective 31 October 2026.
