Live music at Mr Shaws House for Independent Venue Week 2027
YOUR MATE’S EX + LILLY SPHIRE
Your Mate’s Ex headline Mr Shaws House, Derby on Monday 25 January 2027 as part of Independent Venue Week 2027, with support from East Midlands electronic artist Lilly Sphire.
Inspired by the Manchester rave scene of the ’80s and ’90s and the indie-electronic bloghouse era somewhere in the ’00s–2010s, Your Mate’s Ex bring together disco, indie and electronic influences to create a sound packed with groovy basslines, vibrant brass, shimmering beats and infectious energy.
Drawing comparisons to Charli XCX, YMEX combine British vocals with electronic production and a dancefloor-ready sound that feels like a trip to a late-'80s disco — with a distinctly modern edge.
Expect funky electronic sounds, disco energy and plenty of movement.
Supporting is Lilly Sphire, an East Midlands electronic artist and producer whose sound is described as trance-infused progressive house.
Since 2024, Lilly has championed the grassroots electronic music scene, performing at EMOM and other live electronic events around the UK. She has also received recognition from BBC Introducing on multiple occasions, both locally and nationally.
Her latest single “Be Adored” is a feel-good dance track and self-love anthem inspired by artists including Camden Cox and Julia Church.
