Where cheeky charm meets cocktail craft

Step inside to experience the warm glow of friendly hospitality set against a vibrant party aura. Key design highlights include mischievous selfie walls, a kaleidoscope of pink accents throughout, and the Cloud 9 Roof Terrace, which elevates the venue’s party vibes with an al fresco lounge space.

The Mixing House specialises in tapas-style small plates, perfect for sharing (or enjoying solo), alongside an extensive cocktail menu designed to tinker with every taste bud. Signature serves include:

  • Chilli and Cucumber Margarita: house-infused chilli Patron Blanco tequila, agave syrup, lime juice, and fresh cucumber

  • Lavender Tom Collins: Tanqueray gin, lemon, butterfly tea, lavender, topped with soda

  • You’re Twisting My Melon: Cîroc Red Berry, Midori melon liqueur, lemon and pineapple juices, crowned with a Twister ice lolly.

Beyond its regular service, The Mixing House hosts cocktail masterclasses, where guests learn to shake up Derby’s cheekiest concoctions.

Great service

My boyfriend and I wanted a quick bite and some cocktails, we were spoiled for choice with a great deal on small plates. Our server (black hair with a blonde bit in fringe.) Was incredibly friendly and informative. The food was excellent and well presented, my boyfriend's old fashioned cocktail was the best he's ever had. We would have loved to be able to tip on card.

Great food and drinks

Have been for food and drinks twice since opening. Both times excellent food, attentive service, fantastic drinks and a overly environment. Would highly recommend

Shocking

Came here for a couple of cocktails , waited over 40 mins to be served then a further 35 mins for the drinks to turn up! Not only that , the staff wasn’t helpful or apologetic. Clearly lost its professionalism since Pitcher & Piano days. Lots of changes in staff also which is a shame.

Great

Went here with my friend as a first time; served by Jane and Stuart. Both lovely and attentive, having conversation and banter with us while remaining professional. Stuart went through the menu with us and helped us decide what to eat , while serving cocktails I requested that were not on the menu. Jane spoke to us the entire time , she was polite and sweet and always came to us quick with drinks. Would go again, lovely people

Amazing

I came here today and was served by the lovely Jane, amazing food as always and amazing drinks. Superb service and by far the best cocktail bar and restaurant in Derby. Keep up the good work guys.

Meh ..

Nothing special unfortunately. Not sure if the guy behind the bar was trying to be cool smacking his gums with a chewing gum and only giving one word answers or he was genuinely just rude. Food was nice but doesn’t warrant the price, £5 for two small chicken skewers, I’m not sure any of the food was fresh and all seemed quite processed. Can’t comment on the drinks as we had pints.
