Markeaton Park

Beautiful 200 acre park set on the edge of Derby.

Markeaton Park, located just on the outskirts of Derby City, is a popular park that attracts over 1 million visitors a year, making it one of the most visited parks in the East Midlands.

It can provide a peaceful retreat from urban life, a fun-filled day out for the kids, or a quaint shopping experience at the Markeaton Craft Village.

The park's history stretches back to the medieval era. It transitioned from farmland to an estate in the 18th century before eventually transforming into a public park in the 20th century.

Traces of its past are evident in the age-old trees, traditional pathways, historical farming patterns, structures from the 18th century, and remnants of a military camp from World War II.

Expansive, outdoor space of lush green fields

Markeaton park is an expansive, outdoor space of lush green fields. The parking spaces are sufficient. Comforting thick trees, lovely paddling pools for dipping in. The orangery is excellent. There is a play area for children which is safe. There is expansive space for walks, running and lots dog walking.
