The Queens Head at Little Eaton Review

Popular out of town pub owned by the Derby Brewing Company.

Located in Little Eaton, The Queens Head is a beautiful pub set on the outskirts of Derby with rustic exposed stone walls and the original wooden beams across the ceiling.

It was clean and well maintained with subtle decorations and lighting throughout.

The menu is interesting and reasonably priced, covering typical pub classics such as Beer Battered Fish and Chips and a Pie of the Day (find it here). I opted for the Pie of the Day, which was Pork and Leek, served with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables.

The meal was excellent (as I expected). The pie was packed full of meat in a lovely, creamy and well-seasoned sauce. I was a little opposed to puff pastry but I’m happy to say I left there more open minded.

My dining partner opted for the vegetarian option of Wild Mushroom and Roast Tomato Lasagna which was served with homemade chips and salad. The lasagna was packed full of flavour from a range of well-cooked roast vegetables however, was a little too cheesy for their taste buds but they  still managed to clear the plate.

There is also a large range of drinks on offer, including locally brewed ales from the owning brewery the Derby Brewing Co. I didn’t sample any ales on this particular trip sadly, but I will definitely be back and treat myself next time. There are also regular music nights with live acts twice a month.

The Queens Head is a great place to visit for a drink or a family meal so please check it out, you won’t be disappointed.
