Munenori Shiba is a care worker who passionately looks after old people who require care for various reasons, including dementia.
In the community, the bodies of an elderly man and the director of Shiba’s visiting care centre are discovered. Shiba, who has been looking after the elderly man, emerges as the culprit, but he is a kind-hearted young man who is loved by the family. It doesn’t make any sense.
Prosecutor Hidemi Otomo discovers that the mortality rate among the elderly at the nursing care centre where Shiba works is unusually high. Otomo relentlessly pursues him under the banner of the law. In the interrogation room, Shiba finally admits that he has taken the lives of many elderly people but insists that what he did was not “murder”’ but “salvation.” Otomo is deeply shaken as she approaches the truth of the incident.
A gripping and poignant tale of human emotions in the contemporary ageing society which addresses the breakdown of the care system as part of an engaging mystery drama.
